Frequently Asked Questions

Is my text sent to a server to generate the audio?

No. Our tool uses the Web Speech API (specifically the `SpeechSynthesis` interface) which is built directly into modern web browsers. The text you paste is converted to audio entirely locally on your device's CPU. It is never uploaded to the cloud, making this tool 100% private and safe for reading confidential documents, emails, or unpublished manuscripts.

Why do the voices sound different on my phone vs my computer?

Because the tool uses your device's native text-to-speech engine, the available voices depend entirely on your operating system and browser. For example, Safari on macOS will use Apple's high-quality Siri voices, while Chrome on Android will use Google's native TTS engine. For the best experience with the most natural-sounding voices, we recommend using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge on a desktop computer.

Can I download the spoken audio as an MP3 file?

Currently, the Web Speech API does not support native audio exporting or recording directly from the browser to an MP3 or WAV file. It is designed purely for live playback. If you urgently need to save the audio, you can use built-in screen/audio recording software on your computer (like OBS Studio or Mac's QuickTime) while the tool reads the text aloud.
